Pets Rework — Tier, Leveling & Combat System

The biggest overhaul to the pet system since launch. Pets now have a full tiered leveling system with a dynamic damage formula that scales with both pet progression and your own player power. Ten combat pets have been reworked with distinct special attacks and passive buffs — from Mewtwo's single-target nuke to the Obsidian Golem's screen-clearing AoE. The Skeletal Drake arrives as a full boss encounter with a four-attack rotation including a telegraphed meteor, burn DoT, and knockback stomp. Hitmarks have been visually improved. A new Pet Upgrading System lets you push pets beyond their current tier at the cost of a sacrifice. Pet level is now visible directly in the Summoning tab.

Pet Leveling & Tier System

Pets now level up through combat, gaining experience per kill based on the monster's power. Each pet has a maximum level of 100 per tier, and tiers determine the baseline strength of the pet before scaling kicks in. The higher the tier and the closer to max level, the more devastating a pet's contributions to combat become.

Pet level is now displayed directly in the Summoning tab so you can track progression at a glance without opening the pet interface. NEW

Pet Damage Formula — Explained

Pet damage is calculated from two sources: the pet's own power, and a portion of your character's damage. The pet's base hit grows exponentially with each tier and level gained — so a high-tier, max-level pet isn't just slightly better, it's dramatically stronger. On top of that, a fraction of your own final damage is added to every pet hit, and that fraction gets larger the more progressed your pet is. The result is that your gear and build directly make your pet hit harder, especially at higher tiers. Every hit is then rolled randomly between zero and the maximum — the same as standard combat, including the possibility of a splash.

💡 Key takeaway: Pet damage is not isolated from your character's power. The better your gear and final damage output, the harder your pet hits — especially at higher pet tiers and levels where the player factor is largest. Invest in both simultaneously for the best results.

Pet Combat System — Full Roster

Every pet in the roster now has two distinct active mechanics: a Special Attack that triggers on cooldown during combat, and a Passive Buff that grants a temporary bonus to your character at regular intervals. Special attacks and buffs operate on independent timers and both activate automatically — no manual input required.

Skeletal Drake — Boss Encounter NEW

The Skeletal Drake arrives as a full boss encounter separate from its pet form. It rotates between four distinct attacks — two fast ranged projectiles that form the backbone of its rotation, a telegraphed meteor strike that punishes players who stand still, and a rare stomp that blasts melee fighters away. Camera shake triggers on every significant hit to reinforce the weight of each attack.

Attack Rotation

Each attack is chosen via a weighted random roll every cycle. The Skeletal Drake mixes its attacks in a single rotation — there is no phase structure and no guaranteed ordering. You must be ready for any attack at any time.

Magic Blast
40% chance
Fires a blue arcing projectile directly at the player. Deals up to 700 damage on accurate hit, followed by a blue explosion on the impact tile and a camera shake.
Pray Magic to reduce incoming damage. The projectile travels a fixed arc — it cannot be outrun once fired.
Ranged Slime
40% chance
Charges briefly then launches a green slime projectile. Deals up to 700 damage on accurate hit, landing with a large green blast graphic and a camera shake.
Pray Ranged to reduce incoming damage. Together, Magic and Ranged make up 80% of the rotation — switching prayers reactively is essential.
Meteor Strike
15% chance
The drake roars and the sky darkens. A warning graphic marks the target tile. After a delay, a meteor crashes down dealing 250–500 damage to any player standing on the impact tile. A Burn DoT is then applied — 5% of max HP per tick for 5 ticks.
⚠ Warning: "The dragon roars and the sky darkens! MOVE!" appears in chat — you have a short window (several ticks of warning + incoming graphics) to step off the marked tile before impact. Players who don't move take both the direct hit and the full burn. The meteor only damages players on the exact impact tile.
Ground Stomp
5% chance
The drake slams the ground, sending a shockwave across a 2-tile radius. Deals 25% of the player's max HP as damage and knocks the player back 4 tiles directly away from the dragon. Camera shake on impact.
The stomp is rare (1-in-20) but punishing. Any player within 2 tiles of the Skeletal Drake when the stomp lands is hit and pushed. Staying at range (Mage or Ranged combat style) eliminates stomp risk entirely — this mechanic deliberately punishes melee playstyles.
AttackChanceMax DamageAdditional Effect
Magic Blast 40% 700 Camera shake, tile explosion
Ranged Slime 40% 700 Camera shake, tile explosion
Meteor Strike 15% 500 + Burn DoT 5% max HP/tick × 5 ticks, heavy camera shake, telegraphed
Ground Stomp 5% 25% max HP 4-tile knockback, AoE wave graphics, camera shake

Strategy & Tips

  • 🔄 The rotation is 80% Magic and Ranged — you'll need to prayer-flick or accept reduced protection. Watch the charge graphic: the blue projectile has no charge, the ranged attack plays a brief graphic before firing. Use that tell to switch prayers reactively.
  • When you see "The dragon roars and the sky darkens!" in chat — immediately step off your current tile. You have several ticks of warning graphics before the meteor lands. The impact only damages players on the exact marked tile at the moment of detonation.
  • 🧱 The Burn DoT from a Meteor hit deals 5% of your max HP per tick for 5 ticks — that's up to 25% of your max HP in total on top of the direct hit. Bring food capable of recovering from both at once if you get caught.
  • ⚔️ Do not fight this boss in melee range. The Stomp is rare but a guaranteed 25% max HP hit plus a 4-tile push that disrupts your positioning. Mage or Ranged at max attack distance (8 tiles) removes stomp risk entirely.
  • 📷 Camera shake triggers on every major hit. If the shake is disorienting during the meteor, keep your eyes on the chat warning line — it fires before any graphics appear and gives you the clearest early signal to move.

Pet Upgrading System NEW

Pets can now be upgraded to push them into a higher tier — but the requirements are steep. This system is the primary long-term progression sink for the pet system, rewarding dedicated players who have fully maxed a pet and are ready to invest further.

Pet Upgrade Interface The Pet Upgrading interface — requires Level 100 and a sacrifice item.
⬆️
Upgrade Requirements
Both conditions must be met simultaneously before an upgrade attempt can be made.
  1. The pet being upgraded must have reached Level 100 — the maximum level for its current tier. You cannot upgrade a pet that has not been fully leveled.
  2. You must sacrifice an additional pet item of the same tier or lower. This pet is consumed in the process and cannot be recovered.
  3. On a successful upgrade, all pets within the same pet family have their levels reset to Level 1. Plan your upgrade timing accordingly — you will need to re-level the entire family from scratch after each tier transition.

⚠ Important: The level reset applies to the full pet family on upgrade — not just the pet being upgraded. If you have multiple pets from the same family at high levels, all of them reset. Time your upgrades carefully and consider which pets you want to keep leveled before committing to an upgrade.

Improved Hitmarks

Combat hitmarks have been visually overhauled across the board, improving readability during fast-paced encounters and multi-hit pet specials.

Improved Hitmarks Updated hitmark rendering — improved positioning, sizing, and font lighting.
  • Better positioning — hitmarks now anchor more accurately to the target rather than floating at a fixed screen offset. IMPROVED
  • Dynamic size adjustment — hitmark text scales based on the number of digits in the damage value, preventing large numbers from overflowing or clipping. IMPROVED
  • Better font lighting — contrast and glow on hitmark text has been tuned for improved legibility against both light and dark backgrounds. IMPROVED
